Washita County Historical Museum needs community’s support

June 17th will mark the Washita County Historical Museum’s third week welcoming visitors since a long closure. The first week showed exciting numbers, but the crowd dwindled for the second week’s Friday exhibition hours. The museum needs support from our community in order to continue operating.

Early voting begins Thursday June 23rd 2022 for voters in Washita County. Voters who will not be able to make it to the polls on Election Day have the option of voting early at their County Election Board.

SUMMER SHOWERS BRING BLOOMING FLOWERS

Flowers are blooming and grass is growing in Washita County after summer thunderstorms brought several days of rain to start off the month of June. The rain also brought a short pause to local farmers who were harvesting wheat.

The Canute Preservation Club of Route 66 (CPR66) is hosting a full day of various events and fun for all ages to enjoy. Canute Day will take place Saturday, June 4, 2022 on historic Route 66. The morning of Canute Day will start off with townwide garage sales.

Senior Citizens site in dire need of donations

On any given weekday you can find an assortment of hungry diners enjoying lunch at the Cordell Senior Citizens Center meal site. All ages are welcomed, but it is the older generation who particularly value the time spent with a nourishing meal and the conversation of friends.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

The City of Cordell is changing the days to dump tree limbs at the landfill. Citizens of Cordell will be able to dispose of tree limbs on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. and from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the cost of $10 per load.
