Blue Devils Brave Weather, Fall To Hobart, 48-7

The Cordell Blue Devils, along with their cheerleaders and ever-faithful fans, braved cold, wet weather Friday and ventured into Hobart for a showdown with the Bearcats. The Blue Devils faced a much bigger and older team, and ended up on the short end of a 48-7 scoreboard.

Rec Soccer Teams Enjoy A Week Of Downtime At The Movies

Cordell’s recreational soccer league players took advantage of a bit of downtime and the generosity of the Washita Theatre to enjoy an evening of team bonding and unity. The kids were treated to a screening of Hocus Pocus on Thursday, Oct. 24.

Cordell Band And Flag Team Earn Superior Rankings

The Cordell High School Marching Band and Flag Team traveled to Enid last week to compete in the regional marching contest. The flag team earned a superior ranking for their performance and the band recorded a perfect score of straight ones from the judges.

Football Moms Continue Cordell Traditions

Football, especially in small towns, is all about tradition. One of Cordell’s football traditions brings Blue Devil football to Cordell’s town square, as football moms take to the square every Tuesday to hang inspirational posters for each of the players on the windows of local businesses.

Despite a valiant effort in front of a packed home crowd last Thursday, the Cordell Blue Devils ended up on the short side of a lopsided scoreboard and fell to the Bombers of Frederick 42-0.

Here’s a recipe for you: Chop up some Oscar Mayer wieners, stir in Heinz ketchup, blend with Cool Whip and Maxwell House Coffee, sprinkle Planters peanuts over the mixture, add A.1. Steak Sauce, then top it with Cheez Whiz and blast it in the microwave. Sounds like a gloppy mess.

Recreational Soccer Fall Seasons Winding Down

The travelling teams in U8 and U12 had a break this last weekend and will continue their break until Nov. 2. The final festival for the season will be in Weatherford on Nov. 2. The U6 have continued to play and they end their season of play this week.

Cross Country Season Ends At Regionals

Cordell’s cross country season ended Saturday at the regional competition in Waurika. Kobi Cameron, the Blue Devils’ only runner in the field, finished with one of her best times of the season at 15:26.59.

Cordell’s FFA Skeet Teams Advance To State Competitions

Cordell’s senior and junior Future Farmers of America Skeet teams both qualified for the state competition after competing at the district championships in Altus last week. Leading the charge for Cordell’s senior team was junior Raydon Kuehne, who won the individual district championship.
