The Cordell Blue Devils went on the road last week to play their third homecoming game in a row at Hinton. After a hard-fought battle, the Blue Devils came up on the short end of a 20-7 scoreboard.

Hinton controlled the line of scrimmage from the outset of the game, chewing up most of the first quarter with just one possession before pushing the ball into the end zone for their first score.

The teams battled back and forth for the remainder of the half, with Hinton taking a 7-0 lead into the locker room at the half.

The third quarter saw Hinton exert more control over the game. The Comets scored two touchdowns in the quarter to push their lead to 20-0.

The Blue Devils, however, didn’t give up. They fought their way into the end zone in the fourth quarter to cut the Hinton lead to 20-7. Neither team was able to post another score and that’s where the game ended.

Cordell’s head coach, Zane Trammell, did not respond to a request for comment before press time.
