WRESTLING The high school wrestlers competed in the Clinton Tournament on Jan. 29-30. The following wrestlers competed: Colton Lowry at 120-pounds, Billy Scott at 132-pounds, Tucker Priebe at 170-pounds, and Shane Perkins at 182-pounds.

Senior Mckenzy Isbell moved mountains to escape from Beeville, Texas. Isbell spent her entire childhood living in small-town Cordell with her family, which made a sudden move to Beeville in her freshman year hard to stomach.

GIRLS The Jana Rogers-coached girls basketball team went 1-3 over the past week to drop its season record to 3-9. Two of the losses came against ranked teams. Tues, Jan 19, Merritt 61, Cordell 21 The Lady Blue Devils kicked off a busy week with a 40-point loss against the Class 2A No.

Senior Gavin Jasmer has a deep love for nature, and a passion for capturing its beauty on film. Thanks to his mother, Jasmer got his first camera during sophomore year, kickstarting his interest in photography. “My favorite thing to shoot is nature, it’s just so special,” Gavin said.

Senior Raydon Kuehne is no stranger to hard work, earning himself the nickname “Steady Eddy” for his consistent success both in the classroom and on the field. Raydon is the son of Nikki and Rob Kuehne, who have been his biggest supporters and toughest coaches for as long as he can remember.

GIRLS BASKETBALL The Lady Blue Devils went 0-3 last week, unable to bring home a single win. After a week of being pressed hard by some of the top teams in the district, Head Coach Jana Rogers believes her team will be stronger and develop better endurance.

With flaming red hair and a go-getter attitude, senior Brady Reimer can be spotted from a mile away. On Saturdays and Wednesday afternoons, Reimer can be found working at his father’s shop, Mike’s Meats. Reimer loves working with his father, even though they don’t always see eye-to-eye.

Senior Andrea Palmer is best known for her stoic nature; despite this, there is a lot hiding behind her tough exterior. Andrea has graced the Cordell athletics crew with her presence for years now. In her final year, she has become a key leader for every team she’s on.
