Cordell Nurse Practioner and Rancher Darrell Hill recently experienced a ‘one-in-a-million’ find when he discovered that one of his heifers had given birth to a rare albino calf. Albino traits are snow white fur and pink eyes, ears, and nose. Though the calf is healthy, albinism has its challenges.

Willingham awarded CKenergy scholarship

Cordell High School junior Georgia Willingham was recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship as one of four CKenergy Electric Cooperative (CKEC) 2024 Youth Tour winners. Willingham will represent CKEC in Washington, D.C.

Dobson Fiber commits to fiber internet expansion for Cordell

Dobson Fiber held a ground breaking ceremony on the Washita County courthouse lawn last Thursday to announce that they are bringing a multi-million-dollar expansion of its fiber internet offering to Cordell.

The Oklahoma Home & Community Education Association of Washita County recently held their spring county council meeting. During this meeting, 2023 Award Winners and new members were recognized.Each local club received $20 for their work and continued support of the county OHCE program.

The Dill Work and Play met March 12, 2024 in Elk City in the home of Wilma Gathright. Jane Shull called the meeting to order at 1:30 with a welcome to everyone. Anna Pricket led the group saying the Pledge and led the song Dixie Land.Emma Bingham gave he devotion, Fellowship, using 1 John 1:1-7.

Washita County voters will head to the polls on April 2nd to select two Cordell Schools Board of Education candidates to fill Office No. 4 and the unexpired term of Office No. 3. Candidates seeking Office No. 4 are incumbent Levi Jones and Danielle Dick Ivey.
