Commissioners minutes

Now on the 20th day of May 2024, the County Commissioners in and for Washita County met in regular session with Chairman Goeringer calling the meeting to order.

Chairman Goeringer asked Kristen Dowell, County Clerk, for roll call. Roll call was answered by Gossen, present; Goeringer, present; Chandler, present.

The Board reviewed the minutes of the previous regular meeting. Motion made by Gossen seconded by Chandler to approve the minutes as presented. Gossen, yes; Goeringer, yes; Chandler, yes.

Motion made by Gossen seconded by Chandler to approve the blanket purchase orders as filed in the County Clerk’s Office. Gossen, yes; Goeringer, yes; Chandler, yes.

Motion made by Gossen seconded by Chandler to approve payroll for all county employees for the month of May. Gossen, yes; Goeringer, yes; Chandler, yes.

The Board was notified of a change to the requisition officers for the District Attorney’s office with Cassidy Listak replacing Jayden Langley. No action was taken.

Motion made by Gossen seconded by Chandler to approve a Transfer of Appropriations transferring $4,000 from personal services to maintenance & operations within the general fund. Gossen, yes; Goeringer, yes; Chandler, yes.

Motion made by Goeringer seconded by Chandler to approve the agreement between USDA Wildlife Services and Washita County for wildlife services for July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025. The Board was notified that the painting of the interior of the Washita County Activity Center was complete and that a second quote for the installation of a sound system was being obtained and should be received soon. Upon receipt of the second quote, the Board will be able to award the job to get the system installed prior to the Washita County Fair. No action was taken.

The Board discussed window coverings for the two windows in the entry section of the Washita County Activity Center due to the glare the incoming sun puts on projectors or televisions during presentations. Quotes will be obtained for this project. No action was taken. Kristen Dowell, County Clerk, reported on the consultation held at the Washita County Activity Center between herself and a representative from the State Fire Marshal’s office regarding the plans of the enclosure of the Activity Center to be used for the OSU Extension Office. The representative discussed the permits which an architect would request from the State of Oklahoma using their building plans, including, but not limited to, a building permit and fire alarm permit, the use of the enclosure and occupancy, and that the entire facility needs to be brought up to code. CWA Group out of Norman, Oklahoma has been contacted to meet at the Washita County Activity Center to discuss the architectural work needed for the enclosure and the rest of the facility. No action was taken.

Motion made by Chandler seconded by Gossen to approve the hire a contractor when bidding the interior of the enclosure so that all areas of work needed within the enclosure will be bid as one project.
