Oklahoma’s frontline health care workers received a good dose of COVID-19 news last week when the state announced the upcoming arrivals of a vaccine to fight the virus. The state is slated to receive about 43,000 doses initially, 33,000 from Pfizer and 10,000 from Moderno, between Dec. 11-14.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health reports that Washita County’s number of positive COVID-19 cases has continued to climb through the past week. The total number testing positive in the county is now 517. It was 437 a week ago, an increase of 80 over last week.

First COVID-19 vaccines to hit Oklahoma around Dec. 11

The Oklahoma State Department of Health announced today that about 43,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will be available in mid-December for frontline healthcare workers. The plan will be the first phase of the distribution of the vaccine.

As a young boy growing up in Central Nebraska, we had a spring calving cow herd. The “calving shed” that was available to us was one side of a large red barn. This barn was built in the early part of the 20th century and had stalls on one side that were meant to stall draft horses.
