District 5 of the Southwest County Health Departments reported Tuesday that Washita County had its fourth COIVD-19 related death.

The death was a man in the 65 and older age group.

Washita County reported 886 total positive cases of COVID-19, of which 798 had recovered.

"COVID-19 vaccines have arrived in the state of Oklahoma. However, a vaccine is just one part of the solution. It’s important to remember that distributing this vaccine will take time, but we are reassured there is plenty of vaccine to go around. Even once you have the vaccine, it is vital that you continue to take precautions to slow the spread of COVID-1. Everyone should continue to wear a mask, wash their hands and watch their distance. These actions, in conjunction with the vaccine plan, can make a huge difference in keeping our families and communities safe and healthy in the long term," the state health department said in a press release.
