A WINTER WONDERLAND

Cordell turned into a winter wonderland of snow and fun Sunday as about 3-4 inches fell in the area, the National Weather Service said. Children enjoyed their first snow ever, snowball fights broke out and sledding and snow angels topped the fun list.

Jeff Jaronek and Levi Jones will face off in the only contested race in the upcoming Cordell Schools Board of Education spring election. Jaronek and Jones were the lone applicants who filed for the Office No. 1 seat on the school board, which Ronnie McKee is vacating.

Washita County reports third COVID-19 death

The Oklahoma State Department of Health reports that Washita County has experienced its third death attributed to COVID-19 and positive cases have climbed some through the past week. The OSDH on Dec. 9 reported the most recent death, a female in the 65 and older age group.

Washita County reports third COVID-19 related death

Washita County has reported its third COVID-19 related death, according to District 5 of the Southwest County Oklahoma Health Departments. The Washita County individual has been reported as a female in the 65-plus age group.
