Washita County COVID-19 cases continue rise

The Oklahoma State Department of Health reports that Washita County’s number of people testing positive for COVID-19 has risen again some throughout the past week. The total number testing positive in the county is now 814. It was 738 a week ago, an increase of 76 over last week.

District judge rules district must cover attorney fees

District Court Judge Jill C. Weedon ruled that Cordell Schools must pay Nurnberg Roofing $75,000 in attorney fees and $2,802.49 in other costs in a legal battle that dates back to 2016. That brings the total monies the school district owes or has paid in this case to $115,804.

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister has named 97 Oklahoma high school students to her 2021 Student Advisory Council, the sixth consecutive year the group has been convened to assist Hofmeister and the Oklahoma State Department of Education in matters of policy.
