Cattlemens Association gives two scholarships to area students

January 28, 2021, Washita County Cattlemens Association awarded two high school seniors with scholarships. The students were asked to write an essay over the effects of COVID-19 on the beef cattle industry. The scholarships were awarded to Chelsea Nickel of Clinton and Raydon Kuehne of Cordell.

SWOSU reminds high school seniors about enrollment & orientation

Registration for Southwestern Oklahoma State University enrollment and orientation is underway for high school students who plan to attend SWOSU this fall. New Student Orientation (NSO) will take place virtually in 2021 but the university plans to continue on-campus classes this fall.

Raised beds can keep gardeners busy until spring

STILLWATER – Gardeners are counting the days until they can get back to tending their landscapes without the need for hot chocolate breaks. While Oklahoma still has a few cold weeks until gardening season traditionally takes off, gardeners can keep themselves busy building raised garden beds.

Washita County tops 1,000 cases, sees another death

Washita County has recorded its seventh death attributed to COVID-19, the Oklahoma State Department of Health has reported. The latest death is a female 65 or older, the OSDH says. The increase in positive cases in Washita County over the past week has risen a little, the OSDH reported.
