Washita County Junior Livestock Show results
Four Washita County Schools were represented at the Washita County Junior Livestock Show, Monday, February 22 by 58 FFA and 4-H exhibitors.
Despite the shortened schedule and other changes from the ‘normal’ show routine due to water shortage, swine disease precautions and COVID precautions, the exhibitors were cordially supported with $33,500 coming in from the bonus auction last Tuesday night. That figure does not include additional add-on donations beyond the sale.
The show began with the swine on Monday morning. In the Gilt show, Champion Chester, Briggs Reeves, Cordell; Champion Poland, Brylie Reeves, Cordell; Res. Champion Poland, Briggs Reeves; Champion Spot, Blade Baldonado, Sentinel; Res. Champion Spot, Brylie Reeves; Champion Commercial, Luke Rozell, Sentinel; Res. Champion Commercial, Blade Baldonado. Grand and Reserve Grand Gilts were the Commercial Gilts from Sentinel, shown by Luke Rozell and Blade Baldonado.
In the Barrow show, Champion Berk, Blade Baldonado; Res. Champion Berk, Jimmy Jackson, Burns Flat-Dill City; Champion Chester, Delainee Moore, Cordell; Res. Champion Chester, Brylie Reeves; Champion Duroc, McKenna Wedel, Cordell; Champion Hamp, Aubbri Johnston, Cordell; Res. Champion Hamp, Delainee Moore; Champion Poland, Dylan Edison, Cordell; Res. Champion Poland, Briggs Reeves; Champion Spot, Cheyann Edison, Cordell; Res. Champion Spot, Briggs Reeves; Champion York, McKenna Wedel; Champion Crossbred, Sayde Allen, Canute; Reserve Champion Crossbred, Delainee Moore. Grand Champion Barrow went to the Crossbred exhibited by Sayde Allen, and the Reserve Grand Champion Barrow went to the Hamp exhibited by Aubbri Johnston.
Swine Showmanship winners were: Champion Junior, Delainee Moore; Res. Champion Junior, Noah Farris, Sentinel. Champion Intermediate, Luke Rozell; Res. Champion Intermediate, Drew Smith, Sentinel. Champion Senior, McKenna Wedel; Res. Champion Senior Aubbri Johnston. Overall Swine Showman went to Luke Rozell.
Next was the Ewe lamb show. Champion Shrop, Kaylin Holt, Cordell; Champion Hamp, Zada Baker, Sentinel; Champion Commercial, Clay Randall, Canute; Res. Champion Commercial, Kinely Pruett, Canute. Grand and Reserve Grand Ewes were Commercials from Canute, shown by Clay Randall and Kinley Pruett.
The Wether lambs followed the ewes. Champion Southdown, Ryder Callahan, Sentinel; Champion Shrop, Jacob Baker, Sentinel; Res. Champion Shrop, Kaylin Holt. Champion White Faced Cross, Kaylin Holt. Champion Natural, Colt Randall, Canute; Res. Champion Natural, Jacob Baker. Champion Hamp, Colt Randall, Canute; Res. Champion Hamp, Karlee Callahan, Sentinel. Champion Black Faced Cross, Kinley Pruett; Res. Champion Black Faced Cross, Zada Baker. Grand Champion Wether Lamb was the Natural exhibited by Colt Randall. Reserve Grand Wether Lamb, Champion Black Faced Cross exhibited by Kinley Pruett.
Sheep Showmanship winners were: Champion Junior, Kinley Pruett; Res. Junior, Kopen Moles, Sentinel. Champion Intermediate, Clay Randall; Res. Champion Intermediate, Ryder Callahan. Champion Senior, Colt Randall; Res. Champion Senior, Jacob Baker. Overall Swine Showman went to Cold Randall.
In the goat show, Champion Division 1 Breeding Doe, Aubree Maddox, Sentinel; Res. Division 1 Breeding Doe, Grace Rose, Sentinel. Champion Division 2 Breeding Doe, Madison Church, Canute; Res. Champion Breeding Doe Division 2, Aubrey Sturgeon, Burns Flat-Dill City. Grand Champion Breeding Doe was exhibited by Madison Church and Reserve Champion exhibited by Aubrey Sturgeon.
Champion Division 1 Market Goat, Sayde Allen; Res. Champion Division 1 Market Goat, Grace Rose. Champion Division 2 Market Goat, Kinley Pruett; Res. Champion Division 2, Jolene Thompson. Grand Champion Market Goat, Kinley Pruett; Reserve Grand Champion Market Goat, Sayde Allen.
Goat Showmanship winners were: Champion Junior, Kinley Pruett; Res. Champion Junior Aubree Maddox. Champion Intermediate, Madison Church. Champion Senior, Colin Walter; Res. Champion Senior, Liberty Bohanan. Overall Goat Showman was Madison Church.
On to the Broilers, Grand Champion set of Broilers went to Cassi Ray, Cordell. Reserve Grand Broilers were exhibited by Emma Ray also of Cordell.
In the Beef division the heifers were exhibited first. Champion Angus, Bentlee Lester, Sentinel; Res. Champion Angus, Denton Cook, Cordell. Champion Charolais %, Satcher Peck, Canute. Champion Polled Hereford and Champion Horned Hereford, Rayln Clemons, Sentinel. Champion Maintainer, Denton Cook; Res. Maintainer, Parker Jacks, Canute. Champion Shorthorn, Parker Jacks; Res. Champion Shorthorn, Josh Wilson, Cordell. Champion Shorthorn +, Satcher Peck. Champion Simmental, Carson Hogue, Sentinel. Champion Commercial, Braxton Holt, Cordell. Grand Champion Heifer was the Angus, exhibited by Bentlee Lester. Reserve Grand Champion Heifer was Denton Cook with his Maintainer.

The Market Steers followed the Prospects. Champion Angus, Bentlee Lester. Champion Chianina, Keegan Holt. Champion Maine-Anjou, Braxton Holt. Champion Crossbred, Satcher Peck. Bentlee Lester’s Angus was named the Grand Champion Market Steer, and Satcher Peck’s Crossbred was Reserve Grand Champion Market Steer.
The Beef Showmanship winners were: Champion Junior, Bentlee Lester; Res. Champion Junior, Denton Cook. Champion Intermediate, Josh Wilson. Champion Senior, Keegan Holt; Res. Champion Senior, Carson Hogue. The overall Champion Beef Showman was Keegan Holt.
