The Cordell Public Pool (CPP) summer season has started off with a splash! Around the end of May, just in time for opening day, the City of Cordell repainted the bottom of the pool for a much-needed improvement.

Washita County Historical Museum needs community’s support

June 17th will mark the Washita County Historical Museum’s third week welcoming visitors since a long closure. The first week showed exciting numbers, but the crowd dwindled for the second week’s Friday exhibition hours. The museum needs support from our community in order to continue operating.

Flowers are blooming and grass is growing in Washita County after summer thunderstorms brought several days of rain to start off the month of June. The rain also brought a short pause to local farmers who were harvesting wheat.

Bank of Cordell has been through a couple of name changes since it was established in 1902 as The State Bank of Rocky. The bank charter was moved to Cordell in 1998, which brought about its first name change.

Washita Theatre patrons serve up a record-breaking movie run

Not only did Top Gun: Maverick break box-office records worldwide, but it also gave the Washita Theatre their best run yet since re-opening their doors last September. Over a whopping 750 patrons viewed the movie at the theater within the last two weeks.
