The Cordell Blue Devils continued to show progress Thursday night, September 17, picking up a 48-0 shutout victory over the Corn Bible Academy Crusaders.
The win moved Cordell to 2-2 on the season and marked the Blue Devils’ second win in their last three games. One of the biggest highlights of the night came from Kach Whiting, who completed a 99-yard touchdown play as Cordell’s offense piled up 48 points while the Blue Devil defense kept the Crusaders off the scoreboard.
“I’m proud of the progress of the team. They are starting to believe in what they are doing,” Head Coach Nick Bobeck said. “We need to continue to build confidence so we can play with more physicality. As we get more experienced, our execution will improve, and we won’t leave so many points on the field.”
The win is another step forward for a Cordell program that snapped a 14-game losing streak earlier this season. Cordell will look to keep that momentum going this Friday as the Blue Devils host the Burns Flat-Dill City Eagles for Homecoming.
Homecoming week is already in full swing with dress-up days, the Homecoming court and plenty of Blue Devil spirit leading up to Friday’s Homecoming parade and football game.
The Blue Devils have also added another home game to the schedule. Cordell will host Sasakwa in Week 10 on November 11. Senior Night will remain scheduled for October 23. More information will be announced if Cordell is able to fill its open Week 9 date.
With another win behind them and Homecoming ahead, there is plenty for Blue Devil fans to look forward to. Go Big Blue!
