Cordell High School Fastpitch celebrated its lone senior, Keagan Brooks, on Tuesday, September 15, as the Lady Blue Devils hosted the Frederick Bombers for Senior Night.
Cordell made sure the night ended on a winning note, defeating Frederick 1-0 and completing a district sweep of the Bombers.
While Brooks’ senior season has not gone quite as expected following an injury, she has continued to be a part of the team and a presence in the Lady Blue Devil softball program.
“We hate that your senior year hasn’t gone as planned, but we are glad you continue to be a presence,” Cordell’s head softball coach said in a message to Brooks. “We thank you for your years of hard work and dedication to the softball program!”
Brooks shared her appreciation for the team in return, saying, “So happy I get to be a part of an amazing team.”
As part of the Senior Night celebration, a special banner was made in Brooks’ honor. Her teammates and coaches filled it with signatures and personal messages, giving the senior a keepsake commemorating her years with the Lady Devils.
Although an injury may have changed what Brooks envisioned for her final season in a Cordell fastpitch softball uniform, Senior Night offered an opportunity to recognize the hard work, dedication, and impact she has given to the program over the years.
And with a 1-0 victory and district sweep, the Lady Blue Devils gave their lone senior one more reason to remember the night.
