James Newman will stick around for another term as Ward 3 city councilman. Newman didn’t file to run for re-election in the April 6 election. However, no one else filed either, and the city asked Newman to stay until the next election in two years.

County COVID-19 numbers slow over past week

Washita County’s number of new positive COVID-19 cases has slowed substantially over the past week, figures from the Oklahoma State Department of Health show. The total number testing positive in the county is now 1,057. It was 1,054 a week ago, an increase of only three over last week.
