Cordell High School Lady Blue Devils tame the Panthers

The lady Blue Devils shut out the Granite Panthers. The Blue Devils took an early lead in the softball game played on August 15th. The Lady Devils continued to demolish the Panthers until they scored the 10 points required to end the game. In the sixth inning the game was called when the Panthers were unable to score against the Blue Devils. Ramsey King, #3, got into a pickle and was able to get out of it scoring the winning run for the Devils.

The Cordell Blue Devils was unable to stop The Granite Panthers defense. The Blue Devils scored the first run of the softball game played August 15th. The next few innings both teams played great defense holding the scores to minimum. The Panthers switched pitchers and The Blue struggled to score anymore runs. The Blue Devils continued falling further behind to the Panthers as they scored a few more runs. The panthers won the game with the final score of 6-1.

Friday night football kick-off time delayed

Due to the extreme heat advisory, Cordell Schools has adjusted the scheduled start time for Friday night’s high school game against the Sayre Eagles. Kick-off will begin at 8:00 p.m., August 25th, at Cordell Blue Devil Stadium.

CANUTE TROJANETTES SHUT OUT THE BEARS

The Canute Trojanettes softball (dressed in armor) prepared for battle against the Cheyenne Bears. The Trojanettes celebrated when they ended the game early on August 14. They triumphed over the Bears in the third inning with a final score of 10-0. The first three innings of the August 14th game was mostly defense. The Trojanettes lead the first three innings 1-0. On the fourth inning they started to slowly fall behind the Bears. The Bears got their swing on, hitting everything the Trojanettes threw at them. The Trojanettes couldn't rebound, only scoring one more hit. The Trojanettes lost to the Bears with a final score of 9-2.

BFDC SOFTBALL RALLY DURING LAST INNING

The Burns Flat-Dill City JH Lady Eagles took on the Sentinel JH Bulldogs on the softball field August 10th. The Bulldogs dominated the Eagles through most of the game and had a commanding lead of 5-1 over the Eagles. The Eagles showed spirit in the last inning falling just short of catching the Bulldogs. The final score was Bulldogs 5 and Eagles 3.

Washita County’s Dale Mitchell to be honored for baseball legacy

Starting as just a kid from Colony, OK, to being known as a World Series Champion, Loren Dale Mitchell went down as one of the greats. Mitchell was born in Colony, OK, on August 23, 1921. Mitchell’s athleticism and love for sports were evident throughout his childhood and teenage years. After graduating from Cloud Chief High School, Mitchell married Margaret Emerson, a classmate at Cloud Chief. Mitchell and Emerson moved from Washita County to Norman, Oklahoma, where Mitchell would attend the University of Oklahoma (OU). The summer following his 1940 Freshman year, Mitchell played semipro baseball with the Oklahoma Natural Gas Club.

Cordell Blue Devil football players are ready to kick off the new school year and football season by introducing themselves to their fans and showcasing their talents. Mark those calendars and set your alarms for these two significant dates: Thursday, August 10th, Cordell will host their annual Meet the Players and Pie Auction at 7:00 pm.
