A double dose of hoops hysteria arrives as western Oklahoma’s professional basketball team begins its first season with a two-day home stand. The Western Oklahoma Bulls will play their home openers November 4 and 5 against the Colorado Rise at the Elk City Arrowhead Center.

Minor-league basketball players will make a major impression when the American Basketball Association season tips off here in November. The Western Oklahoma Bulls, one of the ABA’s newest teams, will play home games at Elk City’s Arrowhead Center.

YELLOW JACKETS WILDCATS REC SOCCER COMPETES IN FIRST TOURNAMENT OF THE SEASON Cordell Recreational Soccer Club competed in its first season tournament this past weekend in Clinton, OK. The Wildcats lost their first game by one point with a final score of 4-3.

LADY BLUE DEVILS WIN THE BATTLE OF WASHITA COUNTY

Cordell Junior High Blue Devils shut out the BFDC Eagles on September 18. Wind playing havoc on both teams curving the ball in mid air making it hard to determine where the ball was going. The Lady Blue Devils win the game 7-0.

Canute Trojanettes Fall Short of Victory

The Canute Trojanettes and the Kelton, TX Lions Junior Varsity and Varsity teams battled on Tuesday, September 12. The Trojanettes and the Lions showed equal skill in the first round. The Trojanettes won the first out of the three rounds with a very close score 26-24. The second and the third round was won by the Lions. The second round score was 12-25, and the third round was 7-15. Despite the score, the game was very close. Just a few minor mistakes can change the outcome of the game. The Trojanettes played very well and could of easily won the game.

DEVILS FALL SHORT TO THE EAGLES

The Blue Devils elementary football team challenged the Sayre Eagles in Sayre on Monday, September 11. The Eagles received the ball in the first half, and marched down the field scoring their first touchdown of the year. The Eagles unsuccessfully elected to go for the two point conversion. The Blue Devils #22, Bentley White, made a complete pass and ran in for a touchdown. The Devils successfully made the two point conversion bringing the score to Eagles 6 and the Blue Devils 8. The final score of the game ended in a loss with the Eagles 20, and Devils 8. The Blue Devils ranking so far for the season is one win and two losses. The players are showing improvements in the game, and hopefully by next season they will be a force to recon with.
