In a rollercoaster week of high school basketball for Cordell, both the girls and boys teams faced a spectrum of outcomes against formidable opponents.
Tuesday's Matches: Girls fought valiantly but narrowly lost 55-53 against Mangum High School. Calliy Walker led the scoring with an impressive 20 points, accompanied by Birdie Brown with 13, Rylee Chagollia with 7, Peyton Garrison with 6, McKinsey Gray with 4, and Mackinlee Brunker with 3. Notably, Peyton Garrison received a technical foul during the game. Boys faced a challenging 63-41 defeat against Mangum High School, with Dason Ramsey scoring 15 points, Gage Miller with 12, Jordan Wood with 7, Border Dodd with 4, and Jacob Vela with 3, all contributing to the score. Before these games, we recognized our senior players; Gage Miller, Jordan Wood, Scout Regier, Pree Hull, and Allee Brock. We also recognized our senior cheerleaders; Katelyn Melzer, Tae’viana Collins, and Carlie Banks. We are so proud of these individuals for everything they have contributed as leaders. Thursday's Make-Up Game: Girls encountered a tough match, losing 59-11 against Canute High School. Peyton Garrison had 4 points, McKinsey Gray had 3, Diane Palmerton had 2, and Kyndal Norris had 2. These girls worked hard trying to contribute to the score. Boys faced a formidable opponent in Canute High School, resulting in a 72-54 loss. Gage Miller showcased an outstanding performance with 26 points, supported by Jordan Wood’s 11, Dason Ramsey’s 10, Scout Regier’s 4, and Border Dodd’s 3.
Friday's Matches: Girls bounced back with a 34-20 victory against Burns Flat-Dill City High School. Peyton Garrison led the scoring with 14 points, followed by McKinsey Gray’s 11, Birdie Brown’s 8, and Rylee Chagollia’s 1. Boys, however, faced a tough challenge, losing 64-29 against Burns Flat-Dill City High School. Gage Miller continued to shine with 12 points, Eathan Fenning contributed 8, while Border Dodd had 4, Scout Regier had 3, and Jordan Wood had 2. Even though they lost, these boys fought hard and will continue to fight until the end of the season.
