Blue Devil Pie Auction sees sweet success

The Cordell Blue Devils kicked off the 2026 football season with plenty of Blue Devil spirit, support from local businesses and residents, and, of course, a whole lot of whipped cream.

Cordell’s annual Pie Auction and Meet the Players was held Friday, August 21, at the Cordell Football Stadium, introducing this year’s Blue Devil football players and cheerleaders while raising money to support the programs.

And Cordell showed up in a big way. Between the football players and cheerleaders, the evening brought in a whopping $12,000plus, proving once again that when it comes to supporting Blue Devil students, the Cordell community is ready to step up.

“The Pie Auction/Meet the Players was a success,” Cordell Head Football Coach Nick Bobeck said. “We are greatly appreciative of the support the Cordell community continues to show for our students. It was a fun event that brought the community together with our students.”

Throughout the evening, pies were auctioned off for the opportunity to “pie” a favorite football player or cheerleader, adding plenty of laughs to an event centered around introducing this year’s Blue Devils to the community.

The money raised will help support the football and cheer programs and their needs throughout the season.

With the introductions made, the pies thrown and more than $12,000 raised, the Blue Devils can officially call their annual kickoff event a sweet success.

Now, it’s time for some football. Cordell is set to take on Sharon-Mutual at Mutual this Friday, August 28, at 7:00 p.m. Go Big Blue!
