City To Pursue $65,000 Grant

The city council of the City of New Cordell held a public hearing Monday, Sept. 16, 2019, in order to discuss the possibility of applying for a Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) grant from the Southwestern Oklahoma Development Authority.

MODA Offers Grants To Area Municipalities

The Board of Directors of the Midwestern Oklahoma Development Authority recently awarded grants totaling over $88,000 dollars to nine area cities and towns. The grants are awarded each year for community development and economic growth.

Rocky’s Walter Swart will be featured on Galen Culver’s “Is This A Great State or What” segment on KFOR Channel 4 News on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019, which also happens to be Swart’s 100th birthday. Swart was born and raised in Rocky and still farms his own land.

Cordell Man Charged With Three Child Sex Felonies

A Cordell man is facing life in prison following his arrest last week on three felony child sex charges. George Heys, 56, was arrested Sept. 17, 2019, and formally charged with the crimes two days later.

City Awarded $300,000 Grant To Improve Airport

The United States Department of Transportation this week announced a grant award of $300,000 to the City of New Cordell in order to perform maintenance and make improvements at the Cordell Municipal Airport.
