October Is Nursing Home Residents’ Rights Month

October is “Residents’ Rights Month,” an annual event designated by Consumer Voice to honor residents living in all longterm care facilities. It is an opportunity to focus on and celebrate awareness of dignity, respect, and the rights of each resident.

City Poised To Amend Marijuana Ordinance

Cordell’s medical marijuana ordinance will again be changing, this time to remove the city’s prohibition on the cultivating and processing of marijuana within city limits. The prohibition, advised city attorney Johnny Beech, could expose the city to litigation.

First Bale Of Cotton Comes Off Burns Flat Gin

The first bale of cotton processed in the 2019 fall harvest rolled off the cotton gin at the Co-Op in Burns Flat last week. The gin in Burns Flat is the last operating cotton gin in Washita County.

Community Still Struggling With Aftermath Of Murder

SWOSU Homecoming Schedule Announced

Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) will celebrate Homecoming this weekend in Weatherford. The theme for this year’s Homecoming celebration is “Game On!” Everyone is invited to participate in all homecoming activities.

The Cordell All Sports Booster Club will be conducting a reverse lottery during the 2019-2020 Cordell High School basketball season. The winner could win up to $5,000 during the last basketball game of the season.
