25 Years Ago July 5, 1995 D.A. Raises Charge In Local Shooting First degree murder charges were filed against 19-year-old Benjamin Harris last week in the Washita County Courthouse. He is accused of shooting 18-year-old Amory Joe Pearce on April 22nd outside Cordell.

With all 12 precincts reporting, Washita County District Court Clerk Lynda Vermillion has defeated Republican primary challenger Cindy McGuire. Vermillion, who picked up 718 votes to Mc-Guire’s 554, will move on to face Democratic challenger Kim Batt in the November general election.
