Local man wins Best of Show at car expo

Eddie Brown of Cordell won the prestigious Best of Show award at Altus Rock N Rumble on Saturday, May 1st with his 1932 Ford Cabriolet Convertible. He also placed first in the street rod competition. He is the owner of Eddie Brown Motors at 926 N. Glenn English in Cordell.

Washita County Farm Bureau Holds April Meeting

The Washita County Farm Bureau met April 27, 2021 at 6 pm in the Washita County Farm Bureau Office. The meeting started with a meal and a prayer led by Jimmy Piercey. The women moved to the front office and Mary Peck opened the meeting.

Canute FD fish fry this Fry-day

For about 37 years now, the Canute Volunteer Fire Department has put on its fish fry event every year and this year is no different. This Friday, May 7 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This weekend, residents in western Oklahoma will have the opportunity to see what local vendors have to offer at the Heavenly Junk Market. Run by Sarah and Tim Lau, the Heavenly Junk Market has been around for four years now, and it will make its second debut in Cordell this Saturday.

Treatment Court participates in Great American Cleanup Project

Participants in phases I, II, and III of the Washita-Custer County Treatment Court Program gathered on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 21 to clean up litter on their Adopt-A-Highway section of Hwy 183 for the Great American Cleanup project.
