Now on the 19th day of December 2022, the County Commissioners in and for Washita County met in regular session with Chairman Goeringer calling the meeting to order. Chairman Goeringer asked Kristen Dowell, County Clerk, for roll call.

January is National Blood Donor Month, and to start the year off on the right foot, Our Blood Institute is asking everyone in the community to make giving blood part of their New Year’s resolution. Donors of all blood types, especially type O negative, are asked to donate today.

Brooke Henderson Gatlin of Cordell was sworn in on January 9th as the new Associate District Judge. Friends, family and colleagues gathered at the Washita County Courthouse to see the swearing-in and robing ceremony.

FIRE DESTROYS CORDELL RESIDENCE

This residence on 7th Street in Cordell caught fire on Sunday afternoon, January 8th. Cordell Fire Chief Seth Slaughterback said that the 1000 square foot home was 50% engulfed.

Cordell graduate finds his place helping others

At roughly 467 miles away, a young man from Cordell has made a huge impact in the lives of others this Christmas. Nineteen-year-old Triston Jones, Cordell High School Class of 2021 and member of Odd-Fellows Pueblo Lodge #8, formed the first I.O.O.
