Washita County Fair Board members, in conjunction with generous sponsors and volunteers, have been working diligently to reinvigorate community participation and interest in the fair.
After the closure during the pandemic, numbers slowly dwindled and created urgency in preserving the time-honored tradition of creating entries and attending various activities associated with the fair.
This year is shaping up to be especially exciting as three nights of fun will begin at the fair on Thursday, August 27th with entertainment by Buckaroo Bart, Barnyard Olympics, and a fundraiser meal served by Cordell PTO.
Friday, August 28th will feature a bounce house zone, game booths by Washita County school organizations, and a fundraiser meal prepared by local fire departments.
The Miss Washita County Scholarship Pageant will be held Saturday afternoon, August 29th, and that evening will be huge as carnival rides return to the fair! It’s been a long wait, but it is finally time to zoom through the sky on the Wrecking Ball, spin ‘til you are dizzy on the Tubs of Fun, and soar through the air on the Dragonfly Swings.
In addition, Saturday night will provide family fun on a bungee trampoline, 15 ft. slide, mechanical bull, and Redneck Games obstacle course races.
Cordell Chamber of Commerce will have bingo games from 5 - 6 p.m., and multiple food trucks serving eats and treats from funnel cakes to specialty hot dogs will be on site. Cordell PTO will have their famous homemade ice cream fundraiser Saturday night as well.
Between now and August 21st, you can save a ton of cash by purchasing carnival wristbands at a discount price of $30. Wristbands will allow unlimited use of all attractions. Wristbands will be $45 on the day of the event. Simply scan the QR code to buy advance wristbands.
