The Junior High and High School soccer teams opened the season on Thursday, March 5, at home against Elk City. The Junior High girls started the evening off by taking a 1-0 lead in the first half on a goal by McKinsey Gray. The Elk City girls tied it up a little later.

Dear Athletic Support: My son will be the starting quarterback for his high school football team next fall. He’s only a sophomore, and I couldn’t be any prouder. But there’s just one problem—his new girlfriend. She’s a sweet young lady, but she is literally all my son thinks about.

The Washita County Poster and Photography was held in conjunction with the Washita County Junior Livestock Show. The entries were on display February 23-25 at the Washita County Activity Center. 4-H members created posters and highlighted their best photography at this contest.

Photos by Andrew Salmi For The Cordell Beacon Cordell’s wrestling season nearly came to an end this past weekend at the regional tournament held in Geary. Sophomore Shane Perkins may be moving ahead, though, as he finished in sixth place, which earned his a spot as an alternate for the state meet.
