Rowena leaves a legacy of seven grandchildren, Lonnie Thomas Gilstrap II and wife Jessica of Washington State, Lane Owen Gilstrap and wife Summer of Broken Arrow, Logan Mitchell Gilstrap of Weatherford, James Tanner Cole of Edmond, Rachel Nicole Ratliff and Sarah Elise Ratliff of Norman, Sean Ratliff and wife Katie of Moore, and five great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Josephine, Lonnie Thomas III, Landon, Lucas and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Rowena was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband Lonnie, her son Lonnie Herbert; brothers Roger L. Brady and Herbert Ross Brady.

Services for Rowena were held Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, 11:00 A.M. at Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home Chapel in Lone Wolf. Kelly Smith officiated and interment followed at the Sentinel Cemetery. Vernon David Taylor, 85, of Clinton, formerly of Cordell, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Nov. 1, 2019, at the Clinton Veterans Center in Clinton. He was born on Feb. 11, 1934, to Vernon David and Martha Elizabeth (Chandler) Taylor in Horatio, Ark. Vernon grew up and attended school in Washita County. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in June of 1957 in Carswell, Texas.

He served his country honorably and was forced to retire in 1974 due to health problems. Vernon then worked as Deputy Sheriff in Washita County. He was a member of the Cordell Round-up Club and also a member of the First Baptist Church in Cordell. Vernon loved his family, especially his sister’s great-granddaughter, Berkli, AKA, his best girlfriend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his daughter, Jessica Breaux; sisters, Ginger Pearce and husband James of Sentinel and Margaret Francis of Elk City; sister-in-law Gail Taylor of Dill City; brother-in-law Tim Weaver and wife Flora of Oklahoma City; grandchildren James Carpenter of Elk City, Randy Carpenter of Elk City, Lila Breaux of El Reno, Abigail Breaux of El Reno, and Jack Taylor of Cordell; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Loyce Taylor; sons Randy Taylor and Ricky Taylor; and brothers Elmer Taylor, Bill Taylor and Ray Taylor.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019, at First Baptist Church in Cordell, with interment at Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell.

Visitation was from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, and from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, Nov. 4, 2019, at Ray & Martha’s Funeral Home in Cordell.
