Perry Wayne Evans passed from this life and into God’s Glory on January 12, 2021. Perry was born in Elk City, Oklahoma on September 9, 1943 to Joe A. and Iola (Sunny) Evans.
Perry married Mary Ormand on June 12, 1964 at the Port First Baptist Church. Perry graduated from Dill City High School and after high school he attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
After graduation Perry worked for the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. When his dad’s health began to fail he moved his young family back to the family farm in the Canute/Port area where he farmed for 56 years with his wife, parents, son and grandchildren.
Perry’s most important relationship was his marriage to his beloved wife and farming partner Mary. Perry was a dedicated farmer that took growing wheat seriously.
His passion in life, besides his family, was the wheat field.
There was absolutely no one that could get more out of a combine than Perry and probably no one that ever loved driving a combine more than Perry.
Perry was also a cowman and when his children were in school, he was incredibly involved in their livestock projects. Perry spent many hours in the pickup with Dave Maysey, RL Oaks, and Alan Copus searching for show cattle.
The time spent on cattle shows and finding cattle to show were some of Perry’s most treasured memories. Perry also loved to watch basketball and was an avid fan of OU sports as well as greatly enjoying Canute girl’s basketball and Fort Cobb basketball.
He cherished his time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Perry is survived by his wife Mary (Ormand) Evans of the home in Canute. His children Perry (Andy) Wayne Evans, Jr and wife Beth of Kingfisher/Canute, Kevin Evans and wife Heather of Webster Groves, New Jersey. and Kelli (Evans) Turney and husband Doug of Fort Cobb.
He is survived by seven grandchildren Mandy Gulley and husband Clint, Canute, Taylor Evans and wife Savannah of Columbia, Missouri, Sarah Starr and husband Eli of Elk City, Mara Evans of Chicago, Illinois, Trey Abbot of Fort Cobb, James Evans of Webster Groves, New Jersey and Abby Briscoe of Oklahoma City. Perry is survived by two great grandchildren Peru Gulley of Canute and Laythen Starr of Elk City.
Perry is survived by his two sisters Marian Chambless and family of Calumet and Loretta Sharp and family of Cherokee. Perry was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church.

Perry’s funeral will be held Friday, January 15, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Main Street Baptist Church with burial following at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Whinery Funeral Service. Condolences may be made online at www.whineryfs.com
