Washita County Commissioners’ Minutes

Now on the 3rd day of August 2026, the County Commissioners in and for Washita County met in regular session with Chairman Chandler calling the meeting to order.

Chairman Chandler asked Kristen Dowell, County Clerk, for roll call. Roll call was answered by Gossen, present; Gray, present; Chandler, present.

Prayer was led by Chairman Chandler. The Board reviewed the minutes of the July 27, 2026 regular meeting. Motion made by Gray seconded by Gossen to approve the minutes as presented. Gossen, yes; Gray, yes; Chandler, yes.

Motion made by Gossen seconded by Gray to approve the blanket purchase orders as filed in the County Clerk’s Office. Gossen, yes; Gray, yes; Chandler, yes.

The sprinkler system at the activity center was discussed. A quote will be provided to turn the system into a wet system. No action was taken.

The Board discussed items needing to be repaired at the activity center including some electrical outlets and exhaust fans. An electrician will be contacted. No action was taken.

Motion made by Chandler seconded by Gray to approve an application for the Bridging Immigration- Related Deficits Experienced Nationwide Program grant through the Department of Justice for the Sheriff ’s department. Gossen, yes; Gray, yes; Chandler, yes.

The Board discussed the Estimate of Needs (budget) for FY27. Following the approval of the valuation for Washita County by the Excise Board, the Board of County Commissioners will proceed with completing a budget to submit to the Excise Board. The Board will discuss the proposed budget at the regular meeting on August 10, 2026 and will again discuss the proposed budget and final figures to provide to the accountant at a special meeting on August 11, 2026. No action was taken.
