BF-DC School Opening Goes Smoothly

The Burns Flat-Dill City School District began the new year last week and of about 585 students enrolled, only around 25 are attending through distance learning. Superintendent Larry Johnson commented this week, “School is going really well.

Cordell Schools Have Successful Opening

The Cordell School District opened its doors last week for the start of the new year and School Supt. Brad Overton said Tuesday, “Everything is going as expected. It’s going smoothly,” he added. Overton added, “We’ve asked parents to transport their students to school and they are complying.”

Fair Board Cancels Fair, Plans Livestock Show

The Washita County Fair Board has decided to cancel this year’s Free Fair but will hold the Junior Livestock Show. Joe Thompson, who is president of the Fair Board, said the decision was made last week. “I’ve been on the Fair Board for 27 years.

Canute Voters Will Decide Bond Issues

Voters in the Canute School District will decide two bond propositions in next Tuesday’s Runoff Primary election. They can begin casting their votes early Thursday at the County Election Board inside the Washita County Courthouse in Cordell.
