The Oklahoma State Department of Health reports that two more people have died in Washita County due to COVID-19 and the number is up some from a week ago.

The two additional deaths bring to five the total number of people who have died in the county. One of the latest is a male 65 or older, the OSDH reports. Information on the other wasn’t available from the OSDH.

The total number testing positive in the county is now 937. It was 887 a week ago, an increase of 50 over last week. Two weeks ago the number was 814 and three weeks ago it stood at 738. Of the 937 cases, 851 have recovered, OSDH said.

Cordell has reported 276 positive cases, the most in the county. Of those, 252 have recovered. Last week there were 260 positive cases. Of those, 227 had recovered.

Burns Flat, which had 126 a week ago, now has 132 positive cases, the second highest number in the county. Of those, 119 have recovered, the OSDH said.

Burns Flat also has one of the reported deaths in the county.

Canute has 121, up from the 113 last week and has the third highest number in the county. Sentinel has 98. Of the 121 cases in Canute, 109 have recovered and 93 have recovered in Sentinel.

Other communities in Washita County reporting positive cases and the number recovered include: Dill City 58 and 56; Rocky 31 and 29.

Statewide as of Monday, 356,816 people have tested positive, there have been 2,994 deaths and 314,256 who have recovered. Active cases stand 39,586 at the OSDH said.

Last week, 335,247 tested positive, there had been 2,775 deaths and 289,309 had recovered. There were 43,163 active cases a week ago.

This week on Monday, the OSDH reported 1,837 new positive cases confirmed and 7 additional deaths.

The OSDH reports 2,601,000 people have tested negative.
