The Dill Work and Play OHCE met July 13, 2021, at 1:30, in the Dill City Community Center. Jane Shull called the meeting to order by leading the Pledge to the Flag of the United States. Anna Prickett led the group in the song The Star-Spangled Banner.
The Washita Theatre will soon reopen after the Cordell City Council voted to award the operating lease to the Cordell Chamber of Commerce. Area citizens will once again be able to enjoy first run Hollywood blockbusters as well as classic favorites in the beautiful art-deco styled auditorium. PHOTOS BY HECTOR LUCAS

Boating accident claims life of Cordell man and his brother

A boating accident on Lake Texoma resulted in two fatalities early Saturday morning. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol collision report, the fatal accident happened around 7:30 am on Saturday, July 10th on Lake Texoma between Wood Island and Sanders Island View area.

The Cordell Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Slice 183, located at 226 E. Main in Cordell. The pizza restaurant has been in business for nearly a year, but the Chamber was unable to hold ribbon cuttings during the pandemic.

Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s annual Middle School Band Camp attracted nearly 300 students. The camp for students who have completed grades five through seven was held June 27-30 on the Weatherford campus.
