Rocky Senior Citizens Center still needs help to meet goal

Earlier this year the Rocky Senior Citizens Center set a fundraising goal of $20,000 in order to continue operating five days a week. Now, after a fundraiser event and some generous donations, the center has reached the halfway point.

Last week, the Cordell School Board decided on who would fill the two recently vacated board member positions. After having campaigned against current board member Jeff Jaronek during the election earlier this year, Levi Jones was one of two board members appointed to the school board.

The new play structure will provide hours of fun for community children. Its modern design is made to be safer than older equipment.

The Town of Rocky recently received a $3500 grant from Midwestern Oklahoma Development Authority (MODA) that allowed the purchase of a new playground unit and also funded the installation of a new volleyball court.

On a hot and extremely windy day, participants in the Washita-Custer County Treatment Court Program helped clean up litter at Foss State Park. The project took place on July 14, 2021 which shortly followed the annual Foss Lake Christmas in July event.
