CORDELL BLUE DEVILS STUDENT SPOTLIGHT

Cassandra Parker

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

I am a senior at Cordell High School. On top of being a senior, I am a 2nd year student and Class Representative of Cosmetology at WTC. At school, I am the senior drum major of the Cordell High School Marching band, and I am a member of the Cordell Flag Team. My favorite thing about school is band. Music has always been a part of my life. I am beyond thankful to have such an amazing band family, including the band boosters, to support me and to create amazing memories with.

How has your school year been so far?

So far, my senior year has been filled with nothing but hardwork and determination.

What have been some of your favorite memories from during your time in school?

Some of my favorite memories are going to marching contests, going to away football games, and performing at half-time with my band family.

What has been your favorite part of school and why?

My favorite part of school has to be meeting all the new band kids because it makes me remember how my early years in marching band were like. Plus, they are some of the most creative, kindest, and most hard-working people I have ever met.

Are you in any sports, clubs, or other extra curricular activities?

I am the Cordell High School Marching Band Drum Major and I am also a member of the Cordell Flag Team.

What are you most excited for this school year? I am so excited for the marching contest and for all the football, contests, and concerts to come.

Who are your parents?

Winona Parker and Larry Parker

What is it that motivates you to try to do well in class?

Making good grades to stay in band because I don’t want to let the band down. Another motivator is my parents and my little sister.

What do you do when you’re not in school? Do you have any hobbies?

I enjoy spending time with my pets, listening to music, and hanging out with my little sister and friends.

What are your plans looking like after you graduate? What type of career do you want to try and pursue?

My goal is to earn my cosmetology license and to become a traveling cosmetologist, as well as attending college.

Is there anything else you’d like to say?

Joining band has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Band is like my second home because I get to spend time with other people who share the same passion for music as me. It is a place where I feel the most comfortable, supported, and accepted.
