Woman, 37, injured in single-vehicle crash

A one-vehicle traffic collision Sunday afternoon south and east of Colony in Washita County injured a Weatherford woman, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports.

State Trooper Travis Hale said the crash occurred around 2:35 p.m on County Road 2440, onehalf mile south of County Road 1170, about 2 miles east and 2 ½ miles south of Colony.

He identified the injured woman as Kayla Joy Hartford, 37, of Weatherford. Hale said she was transported by Lifeguard EMS to Weatherford Regional Hospital in stable condition where she was admitted for observation of a head injury.

The trooper reported two passengers in Hartford’s vehicle were not injured. One was identified as Matias Junior Luera II, 18, of Lawton and the other was a 14-year-old of Weatherford whose name was withheld since he is a juvenile.

Hale reported Hartford was driving a 2003 Nissan Murano southbound on County Road 2440. The trooper said Hartford told him she had the cruise control set and lost control on a snow/slush covered bridge. Hale said the Murano left the roadway to the right, then rolled 1 ¼ time coming to rest on its driver side doors.

Hale stated in the report Hartford’s condition at the time of the collision was apparently normal. He listed cause of collision as speeds unsafe for road condition.

The trooper said seat belts were equipped and in use by all occupants.

He said the roadway was snow and slush covered.

Hale, of the Custer, Dewey and Washita County detachment of Troop H, was assisted by Trooper Kyle Johnson of Troop H and the Colony Fire Department and Lifeguard EMS.
