The time to get creative is now! Set out your pumpkins, gourds, haybales, and Halloween and Fall decorations as the Cordell Beacon hosts a Fall Decorating contest for residents and businesses. There will be one winner for each category with a $50 prize. To enter the decorating contest, call the Beacon at (580)-832-3333 to let us know your name and address. Showcase your windows and entryways with spooky decorations or festive autumn foliage. Judging will occur on Friday, October 13, and the Beacon will announce the winner on Saturday, October 14. Following the decorating contest is a Pumpkin Festival decorative bicycle contest, sponsored by the Cordell Beacon, with a $25 prize. Kids can decorate their bikes and display their festive twowheelers around the Courthouse. Those who choose to participate in the bike contest must meet and line up around 9:30 a.m. in front of the Cordell Library on South College Street.
Children and families are encouraged to dress in their favorite Halloween costumes and show off their Halloween spirit. There will be a section in the parade for those in costume.
