Washita County accidents result in one fatality, multiple injuries

Two separate auto accidents occurred over the last week in Washita County.

On the afternoon of July 14th, a wreck near Dill City took the life of a Burns Flat teen. According to Highway Patrol reports, a 2003 Chevy Tahoe driven by a 17-year-old male of Depew, Ok crashed on East 1200 road just east of OK-44, two miles west of Dill City.

The driver was transported by Survival Flight to OU Medical Center where he was admitted in serious condition with head and trunk external injuries.

A 16-year-old male passenger from Burns Flat was transported to Cordell Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.

The second passenger, a 17-year-old male from Burns Flat was pronounced deceased at the scene by Burns Flat EMS. Seatbelts were not in use by any occupants.

Another accident occurred on Sunday, July 17th at the intersection of OK-44 and E 1130 road, one mile north of Burns Flat. when a 2012 Chevy Cruze driven by Cassie A. Gray, 31, of Sentinel failed to yield at the intersection and collided with a trailer being pulled by a 2019 Dodge Ram driven by Matthew Gardner, 27, of Cheyenne.

Gardner was not injured. Gray was transported by Burns Flat EMS to Alliance Health Clinton and then transferred by Air Evac to OU Medical Center where she was admitted in fair condition with leg injuries. Seatbelts were in use by Gray.
