Early Sunday morning, September 24th, several school and community vandalism reports were made. Five vandals, one from Cordell and four from Clinton, graffitied the side and front of the STEM building at Cordell Schools, broke into and graffitied the outside and inside of school busses, broke into the band room, and broke into the Cordell Public Pool where they stole spraypaint.
They proceeded to vandalize the Catholic Church, signs, vehicles of Cordell residents, buildings, and windows downtown.
Since the school has several cameras, the first vandal was quickly recognized and caught. Following a search warrant for his phone, the other vandalisers were identified.
Three came in voluntarily, admitting to what they had done. The fifth vandalizer, however, did not willingly turn himself in. Clinton Police Department picked him up, and is now in Washita County Jail. Following his capture, he did deliver a statement listing what all he was involved in.
Charges will be filed through district court for one juvenile, Colton Szedeli, Malachi Howlingwolf, Juan Marquez, and Brandon Nunez.
“It was a team effort with the police department and the community,” stated Cordell Chief of Police Dustin Denney.
