The holiday season is right around the corner, bringing the opportunity to spread kindness and magic to local children in need. Across Washita County, businesses, churches, and community organizations have set up Angel Trees and toy drives to ensure every child experiences the joy of Christmas morning. Here’s how you can make a difference this holiday season.
Wookie’s Tattoo and Body Piercing, located at 210 E 1st in Cordell, is hosting its 16th Annual Toy Drive. From November 15 through December 18, bring in a new, unwrapped toy worth $20 (or multiple toys totaling $20) for children aged 1 to 16. Include the receipt(s) to receive a $50 voucher for a tattoo over $200 or half off a body piercing (above the waist, excluding dermal piercings). Vouchers expire on February 1, 2025.
Iron Fitness at 111 South College in Cordell will have its Angel Tree ready with names available starting Monday, November 25. To add a child’s name, contact Candace Howell. The deadline to submit a child’s name is Wednesday, December 11.
Cordell Memorial Hospital is gearing up for the season of giving with their Angel Tree, which will be set up in the hospital lobby next week. The hospital has partnered with the Health Department and Cordell Schools to gather names of children in need. To add a child’s name to the tree, contact Cordell Memorial Hospital. They’ll carefully cross-check their lists to ensure no “Angel” is duplicated, further helping local children enjoy the magic of Christmas this year.
Sentinel First Baptist Church is collecting gifts for local school children and church members through its Angel Tree program. The deadline to get a child’s name on the tree is Thursday, November 21, but there’s still time to contact Debby at (580) 393-2162 to assist a child in need.
All American Bank in Sentinel will soon have its Angel Tree ready for community members to participate in. Each tag includes items such as clothing and shoe sizes and gift ideas for boys and girls of different ages. While the donation deadline is temporarily unknown, this is a wonderful way to ensure a gift makes it to a child this Christmas.
