The holiday season will sparkle with the sound of music this Saturday, December 14, at 7:00 p.m., as the Tinsel and Tunes Home for the Holidays Community Christmas Program takes center stage at the Cordell School Auditorium at 418 N East Ave. This eagerly anticipated event promises a nostalgic celebration of the Christmas spirit, bringing together timeless carols, festive melodies, and exceptional talent from across Oklahoma.
Under the skilled direction of Aaron and Elizabeth Edge, the Cordell High School Band and Choral Department will perform a selection of beloved holiday tunes for the audience. Their dedication and artistry have been a highlight within the Cordell community.
Scissortail Productions Inc.’s premiere jazz ensemble, Stardust, is headlining the program, directed by the illustrious Professor Megan Barth-Argo, Opera Repetiteur, and Vocal Coach for the Michael and Anne Greenwood School of Music at Oklahoma State University. Known for their captivating performances, Stardust will infuse the evening with jazz-inspired holiday cheer.
The program will also feature an impressive lineup of performers from six Oklahoma universities, including Oklahoma University, Oklahoma State University, University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, Oklahoma Christian University, Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and Langston University.
Adding to the enchantment are celebrated soloists, including Southwestern Oklahoma State University flutist Dr. Shelley Martinson, the gifted vocal stylings of Susan Adams-Johnson, and the luminous soprano Heather Appel.
Tinsel and Tunes is a family-friendly event that is free to the public. Donations will be gratefully accepted, and all profits will directly benefit the Cordell Schools Music Department.
