Fifteen students from the Danielle Shaw Piano Studio recently demonstrated exceptional musical skill at the Oklahoma Music Teachers Association (OMTA) State Achievement Auditions. The prestigious event took place on May 15th and 16th at the University of Oklahoma’s Catlett Music Center in Norman, OK.
Notably, several students competed in the rigorous “Merit” category. To succeed in this classification, students must not only perform two different pieces of memorized repertoire for a panel of judges at district and state, but also achieve a score of 80% or higher on comprehensive written theory and aural listening examinations.
The OMTA State Achievement Auditions draw talented young pianists from across Oklahoma, providing a platform for students to perform repertoire before professional adjudicators and receive critical feedback on their technical proficiency and artistic expression.
