Seventh COVID-19 related death reported in Washita

The state reported Wednesday a seventh Covid-19 related death in Washita County.

The most recent death is a male in the 65-plus age group.

Oklahoma is reporting an increase of 2,119 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.  Of those cases, 224 are reported in the counties served by District 5, according to a news release on Wednesday.

District 5 reported two other deaths, as well. Two Comanche County individuals have been reported as in the 65+  age group, one being female, and one male.  

COVID-19 vaccines are being administered in the state of Oklahoma. However, a vaccine is just  one part of the solution. It’s important to remember that distributing this vaccine will take time, but  we are reassured there is plenty vaccine to go around. Even once you have the vaccine, it is vital  that you continue to take precautions to slow the spread of COVID-19 everyone should continue to  wear a mask, wash their hands and watch their distance.   • 363,808 Oklahomans have been reported as recovered from COVID-19 
  • Southwest Oklahoma county health departments have moved to appointment-based  COVID-19 vaccination clinics in each county. The new scheduling system can be found at  vaccinate.oklahoma.gov. Individuals who sign up will be notified when they can access the  appointment schedule based on the group they identified as during the screening process.
