On Monday, February 10, Rachel Jones was honored as News 9’s Hometown Hero of the Week. The recognition came with a generous check for $500 from Quail Creek Bank.
Rachel, owner of Wookies Tattoo and Body Piercing, has a reputation far beyond her artistry. Her kind heart and need to help others are known through her initiatives, the Blessing Box—a red donation box situated outside her shop. This humble yet impactful project provides assistance for many families and individuals facing food insecurity in the area. The Blessing Box allows people to discreetly take food as needed, allowing for a sense of dignity and compassion without questions or judgment.
“I am so overwhelmed, grateful, and thankful for getting nominated and [chosen] to be one of the Hometown Heroes,” Rachel expressed. “I do what I can to help as many people as possible. Everyone should have access to food and a kind smile. With this donation, I will be able to continue to help my community the best I can. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I couldn’t do what I do if it wasn’t for the donations and the support that I get from the community.”
Rachel’s motto for the Blessing Box is simple, “Take what you need, give when you can.” The impact she’s making is evident in the lives she has touched. For many, the Blessing Box represents hope and a reminder that kindness still exists.
Thank you, Rachel, for keeping your hand out to those in need and being an example of compassion and selflessness in our community. Your dedication does not go unnoticed.
