Morgen Trammell

Morgen Trammell is native to Cordell and has been touching the lives of her students for five years. This is her third year teaching pre-k at Cordell Schools. Mrs. Trammell not only loves teaching but she loves her students. She is a light in the world of teaching and is this week’s Cordell Blue Devil Faculty Spotlight.

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

My name is Morgen Trammell and I am a Cordell graduate of 2014. This is my 5th year of teaching and my 3rd year teaching pre-k here at Cordell.

We’re about three months into the school year, how has it been so far?

It’s been an enjoyable year so far! Getting to do all of the normal “pre-k things” without all of the Covid restrictions has been refreshing. It’s great to get to watch all of the kids socialize and play together again. Last year was definitely a challenge trying to keep four year-olds socially distanced.

What are some things you are looking forward to for this school year?

This year I am enjoying and looking forward to the activities that my kids get to participate in again: going to the fire station, singing at the veterans assembly, visiting Santa, going to the movie theater, etc. Watching their little eyes light up when they get to have these experiences is what makes this job so rewarding.

What is it that got you to want to become a teacher?

There are so many kids in the world that need a positive impact in their lives. Somebody to just simply love them and care for them and I wanted to be just that. A safe place for kids to be.

What subject do you teach and why that specific one?

I teach pre-k. 4 and 5 year-olds. I’ve always loved the littles. I’m a very nurturing person and I get to nurture everyday in my classroom alongside my teachers aide, Ashley Reeves. She and I have been working together since I’ve been at Cordell and I think we make a great team. She is an asset to have in my classroom and I’m thankful to work with her.

What motivates you?

My biggest motivator in the classroom is the excitement that my students have when they succeed. There is so much growth that happens in the first year of school. By the end of the year my students have learned so much, both socially and cognitively. It’s so rewarding to see those moments when things just “click” for them!

What have been some notable moments during your time teaching so far?

Teaching pre-k is so much fun because each day is a new experience. You really never know what each day is going to bring. There are so many notable moments because there are so many “light bulb” moments that happen each day in our classroom.
