Matthew Misak has announced his candidacy as a Republican candidate for District 1 County Commissioner. He has worked for Washita County District 1 for fifteen years, with eight years as a County Hand and the last seven years as Road Foreman. In addition to his county service, Misak spent thirteen years as a volunteer firefighter, including six years serving as Chief of the Colony Fire Department.
Misak said, “It is time to put my experience to work in a new way. I understand the value of hard work and public service. During my time with the county, I have worked to maintain county roads, oversee equipment and crews, and ensure taxpayer resources are used responsibly.”
Misak expressed that as County Commissioner his priorities will be maintaining a dependable fleet of county equipment, promoting economic development and new business opportunities, improving county infrastructure, and pursuing grants and outside funding sources. He believes strong partnerships and responsible financial management can help move Washita County forward without placing unnecessary burdens on taxpayers.
“My wife Whitney and I are honored to call Washita County home as we raise our sons Mark and Maverick. Together we have built our lives around faith, family, and community service. Our family believes in giving back to the community that has given so much to us by supporting local schools, youth activities, community organizations, and county projects. I would appreciate your support to be the next District 1 County Commissioner so I may continue to work for our community,” said Misak.
