International Overdose Awareness Day

On Thursday, August 31, community members lined up several pairs of shoes along the walls and fence line of the pocket park across from the Washita Theatre. Shoes traced the benches in honor of International Overdose Awareness Day. This motion shared the intention to help raise awareness of substance use disorder so that our Nation can combat stigmatization, promote treatment, celebrate recovery, and strengthen collective efforts to prevent overdose deaths. Each pair of shoes represented the number of people who succumb every day to an overdose in the United States.
