A Weatherford man was injured last week in a two-vehicle traffic collision south and east of Cordell in Washita County.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Kyle Johnson said the injured man was 36 years old and from Weatherford but his name was withheld pending next of kin notification.

He was transported from the scene by Survival Flight to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma. The trooper said he was admitted in stable condition with a leg injury.

The collision occurred shortly after 1 p.m. on Jan. 19, the trooper reported, on OK 54, five miles south of OK 152, approximately seven miles east and five miles south of Cordell in Washita County.

Trooper Johnson reported the Weatherford man was driving a Ford Mustang, unknown year and model.

The other vehicle involved was a 2005 Peterbilt driven by Brandon Yeager, 44, also of Weatherford and the trooper said Yeager wasn’t injured.

The trooper said the Mustang was southbound on OK 54 and the Peterbilt was northbound on OK 54. The Mustang traveled left of center and the front of the Mustang struck the front end of the Peterbilt, he reported.

Condition of both drivers at the time of the collision was apparently normal, Trooper Johnson stated, and both vehicles were equipped with seat belts and in use, he reported.

He listed cause of the collision as left of center.

Assisting Johnson were Troopers Jared Boese and Chris Laufer, the Washita County Sheriff’s Office, Cordell Medic One, Cloud Chief Fire Department and Cloud Chief EMS.
