The Dill Work and Play OHCE met May 11, 2021, at 1:30, in the Dill City Community Center. Jane Shull called the meeting to order, and Vickie Werner led the group in the US Flag salute. All members filled out a survey on things and thoughts happing during the Pandemic. Anna Prickett led the group in the song My Blue Heaven. Emma Bingham gave the Thought of the Day, Compassion: Do not be Afraid, using Deuteronomy 1:6 and Psalms 27:2. Emma called roll with, -what is your favorite spice to cook with or to smell? Emma read the minutes from the April meeting and they were approved. Anna gave the treasurer report and collected money for projects. Anna gave check for the Burns Flat Dill SR 4-H crock pot project. Lowayne Piercey gave a BFDC SR 4-H report. The Speech and Demonstration Contest were held in Canute, April 30. The BFDC SR 4-H had several entries and did very well. 4-H will have the Washita County Cupcake Wars, May 24. 4-H Day camp will be June 3. Brance and Braxton Barnett, Jacob Baker, and Rowdy Waugh competed in the State Meat Judging Contest in Stillwater. Jane gave a report that she and Anna went to see Wilma Gathright and took flowers from the dub in a farm style vase. They gave the Dill Work and Play sympathy for the loss of Wilma’s sister, Linda Kelly passing. An update on the Washita County fair was given and as of now the fair will be held in August. Members have several entries ready. Report was given on the Dill Work and Play T-shirts and they should be ready to wear for the fair. Jane gave a report on the County News Letter: facts on Stress, growing vegetables in pots and State OHCE Conference to be held in OKC July 11th thru 13th. June meeting plans were made to eat out in Elk City at Freds. OHCE Week activities were made: Send cards, Visit someone, Read a Book, May OHCE monthly meeting, Bale and Take Day, attend Church, Do something kind, Club trip to Hennessy and Kingfisher OK. Emma reported that SHE is going to be a grandma. Her son Dustin and daughter-in -law Dusty are going to have a baby. Emma gave the lesson Spices and Herbs. Cultural Arts were shown by Anna, earrings and neckless made from seeds, which she got on a trip to Honduras. Emma showed a pin she found on a shopping trip of Ready Wattage charm used across America for six decades. It started in 1933 as rural electric energy mascot. Lowayne led the Lord’s Prayer to dismiss the meeting. Emma Bingham served spice and herb filled refreshments to Jane Shull, Darlene Moore, Anna Prickett, Vickie Werner, Lowayne Piercey, guest Sabrina Bierman and Kayden, Lowayne’s daughter and great grandson. Emma gave a door prize won by guest Sabrina.
