Cowden School Alumni recently gathered for their 38th Annual Reunion. The festivities began at 2:00 on Saturday July 6th, 2024 at the Cowden Community Building with 35 attending. Everyone brought side dishes and/or deserts, Double6 from Weatherford provided the meat. Everyone enjoyed visiting and catching up. Delma Lamb and Jennifer Stovall were the registrars.
Ken Jones gave the blessing for the meal. B.R. Stephens, Alumni President opened the business meeting and lead the Pledge of Allegiance and read the names of the 3 Alumni who had passed away since the 2023 reunion.
The oldest graduate was Leroy (Bud) Luper, graduating in the class of 1946; Wanda (Kinder) Deonier had attended the most reunions; Esta Lou (Lair) Robinson Hedrick traveled the farthest; The Kenneth Dickerson family had the most family attending and Daneille Schmidt was the youngest student. They were each presented a one-dollar gold coin in recognition.

Several door prizes were presented through a drawing. B.R. thanked all who helped to make the reunion possible including The Farmer’s Bank in Carnegie; Shamrock Bank of Mountain View; The Bank of Western Oklahoma, High Plains Bank, Blue Sky Bank and Jack’s Flowers and Gifts and Tractor Supply all located in Cordell.
The meeting was open for any suggestions to improve our gathering for next year, no suggestions were made. The meeting was adjourned with prayer by B.R. Stephens.
